  Release of DICOMReader 3.5
A continuously rising number of patients are bringing along their prior radiological exams digitally on CD, DVD or flash drive when they appear in hospitals, clinics or doctor’s offices for further exams or treatment. When dealing with such media, one frequently experiences incompatibility issues.

Using the DICOMReader you can extremely simplify the handling of patient CDs. Installed, for instance, at the reception, the hospital or doctor’s personnel can read in any medical image CD and transfer the patient studies via network directly to the viewing station or to the PACS.

The DICOMReader 3.5 achieves the worldwide highest read-in rate of medical CDs into any PACS. Any removable data carrier inserted into the computer will be scanned automatically for available medical images. At the same time the auto-start of foreign software that may be included on the medium is prevented. All detected images are then analyzed and, if necessary, automatically converted into a format that your PACS can process. For high data volumes a parallel handling (multi-threading) of the scan and transfer processes is possible, allowing the user to read-in several media simultaneously from different drives.

For its user-friendliness, data integrity and security as well as for its high compatibility the DICOMReader has already been awarded several prizes from different radiological societies.

Numerous hospitals, clinics and doctor’s offices have relied on the market leader for years. They are holding a powerful tool in their hands that is continuously, and in mutual collaboration, enhanced and improved.

A free demo version of DICOMReader 3.5/PRO is available for download at www.dicomreader.com and can easily be set up by your administrator or a local reseller.

  iQ-WEBX upgrade
iQ-WEBX is the PACS server for storage, teleradiology and image distribution, which offers an overall stable and easy handling of images.

An extensive upgrade of iQ-WEBX is available! The upgrade contains first and foremost the new iQ-X 1.1.0 web viewer.

You now have the possibility to view, similarly to iQ-VIEW, both sequences and single-frame images using cine mode, which enables automatic looping.

It is further possible to view structured reports and do download images, series or complete studies in the background while viewing other studies simultaneously. This allows a faster access to the images. Also, when using compression, you can now retrieve the uncompressed image with only one click.

The new upgrade contains the latest version of iQ-WEB 5.1.3 including the already available patches.

The upgrade additionally supports the new HIS/RIS Client Integration Tool, the secure web-based interface that integrates iQ-WEBX into other web-based or thick client-based medical information systems.

Contact your local distributor to get your upgrade today!

Important! Please note that you need an upgrade-password for your iQ-WEB server in case you plan to upgrade from versions prior to the iQ-WEB 5.1.3 package. The upgrade password needs to be purchased separately as part of the annual service and support package.

  Hints: FilmSizeID iQ-PRINT
Problem description:

You are trying to send a print request from a modality after setting up iQ-PRINT, but it ends up with the error “FilmSizeID unknown

Solution:

iQ-PRINT is defining one or more paper layouts within its configuration which set the paper dimension (e. g. A3 or Letter size) and the used borders. The layout is necessary to position and size the images for the print.

iQ-PRINT is identifying the paper layout from the information sent with the print request from the modality, the so-called film size ID. In most cases the name of the film size ID is based on the size of the film, e. g. “11INX14IN†(11 inch x 14 inch). In order to identify the right paper for the layout iQ-PRINT needs the film size ID information of the print request to match with the name of the layout.

If the modality (in this example iQ-VIEW) sends a print job with film size ID “14INX17IN†the configuration of iQ-PRINT needs a paper layout named identically “[14INX17IN]â€. If this name does not exist in iQ-PRINT, it refuses the print request and the output will show the error message “FilmSizeID unknownâ€. You can find which film size ID the modality sent by starting iQ-PRINT in debug mode.

Print request modality (iQ-VIEW)

Configuration in iQ-PRINT

Note: The name of the film size ID might include size information like 14 inch which does not match with the wanted paper size. One can ignore those values and see the film size ID as a name only to identify a given layout within the iQ-PRINT configuration.
